Leighton Buzzard Writers Group was founded in 2008 by Literary Agent Kate Allan.
The Group has published three anthologies of poetry, fiction and factual writing centred around Leighton Buzzard. The first, Tales from the Buzzard was published and launched in October 2010. The second, Tales Terrible and Mysterious from the Buzzard was launched on Halloween, 2012 and the third, A Bridge Between Two Worlds, was launched in November 2014 and features stories and poetry inspired by the role of Leighton Buzzard in Word War I. A fourth anthology is in the pipeline.
The Leighton Buzzard Writers meet every first and third Tuesday of the month in Classroom 2, first floor, Leighton Buzzard Library, Lake Street, Leighton Buzzard LU7 1RX. Meetings start at 7:30 and finished around 9:30. The annual subscription for 2016/17 is £35 or £3 per meeting.
In meetings, people generally bring along a piece they are working on - novel, poem, short story, screenplay, article (anything goes) and invite some peer group critique. Sometimes we have small workshops or themed meetings. Crime night is popular.
We have an Open Mic event once a year. For more information see our website at lbwriters.co.uk or join our Facebook page.
