Our two key events are:

Carnival: Held annually this family event is always held on the second Saturday in July from 11:00am until 4:00pm, 2021 will be our 60th year. We have a procession of carnival floats which travel through the town and arrive at Parson Close Recreation Ground at lunch time. Within the park there is a funfair, side shows, community stalls and an arena featuring a varied programme entertainment throughout the day. Funds raised are distributed to local community groups at our AGM each October. There are other events during the year which organised to support the carnival

Picnic in the Park: Held annually in June from 10:00am until 2:00pm, this free event is especially for pre-school children (0-5 years old), their parents and carers and also takes place in Parsons Close Recreation Ground. We have a performance area providing free entertainment, a mini funfair, a soft play area and other activities. There are also a selection of family-friendly stalls offering a range of products and services.

Why not get involved with the Carnival team

Joining the Carnival team as a member offers a range of opportunities for you to get involved with and be part of one of Leighton-Linslade’s largest community events, the Carnival in July. We also organise the annual Picnic in the Park event every June and the Carnival Court Selection Disco early in the year.

Roles that are available are briefly summarised below if you are interested in joining. Further details and more information are available from any committee members (see website for details). Furthermore, there is no membership fee payable. Why not join, get involved and help us raise money for local good causes.

Members can help in any of the following ways

  • You can help throughout the year by standing to be elected as a committee member at our AGM in October each year to help run and organise the group throughout the year. There are a range of committee roles which are open to all members and require different skills, so there is something for everyone.
  • You can help at different times during the year by supporting the committee with leaflet distribution for our events at various locations to promote those events which we organise, the carnival court selection, picnic in the park and carnival
  • You can also help directly with the events by either being a crew member to help set up and take down the event or just as a steward to help oversee the event to ensure that everyone attending can safely enjoy themselves.

Whether you have lots of time or just a little to give we will welcome you if you want to get involved. We provided you with any training needed and appropriate clothing as required for the role.
